FOREWORD:

It has been my pleasure that TUKOLE WOMENN GROUP had opportunity to participate in carrying out this research work titled “ THE PLIGHT OF ORPHANED AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN IN KATWE KABATORO TOWN COUNCIL’’. TUKOLE WOMEN GROUP which is a Civil Society /Non Government Organization based in Katwe Kabatoro Town council, pursues ‘Advocacy for the protection of children rights’ among others as a major objective.

The idea of the research work was initiated and later `spear-headed’ by OYSTEIN and MONICA-a Norwegean couple that stayed in Katwe Kabatoro town council for a period of 9months months (from October 2008 to July 2009). Throughout their stay, they demonstrated keen interest in the plight of orphaned and vulnerable children in the area, among other aspects of their social and community Development concerns.

TUKOLE WOMEN GROUP therefore acknowledges the initiative and subsequent contribution of OYSTEIN and MONICA, to this research work, which has indeed drawn the attention of other stakeholders to the plight of OVC, with renewed interest.

TUKOLE WOMEN GROUP is also grateful to; parent / Guardians, individuals, local and option leaders in their respective capacities, for their material and financial contribution to the research work. More acknowledgements go to Re- Katwe Friendship link for introducing the FK projects; otherwise without the project this idea would not easily come to level.

TUKOLE WOMEN GROUP anticipates that the research findings and recommendation will map out a strategic communitment for stakeholders in their struggle to lead the OVC to their full potential as individuals and community Members/Citizens.

Thank you.

KABARANGIRA JENIFFER MNPANJU (nrs)

CHAIRPERSON – TUKOLE WOMEN GROUP
